This is the page for students who are enrolled in Advanced Placement Government and Politics. This page will consist of a number of links to web sites that we will frequently use in the course. Reading, homework and project assignments will also be posted here. You will need to check this site on a regular basis for those assignments.

Advanced Placement US Government Course Topics:
1. Foundations of American Democracy
2. Constitutional Underpinnings of American Government
3. Political Beliefs and Behaviors
4. Political Parties, Interest Groups, and Mass Media
5. Major Institutions of the US Government
6. Civil Liberties and Civil Rights
7. Formulation and implementation of Public Policy

From the College Board AP Progam Booklet for AP Government: "In terms of content, there is no specific college course curriculum that an AP course in US government must follow. Therefore, the aim of an AP course should be to provide the student with a learning experience equivalent to that obtained in most college introductory US government courses."

On Monday, May 3 you will be expected to take the AP Government exam in US government and politics. This is a demanding exam that will be scored from 1-5. Many colleges and universities will give credit for scores of 3 or higher.

The second semester is Comparative Governments and Politics. More information on that course will be given later.
