AP US History
The AP program in US history is designed to provide students with the analytical skills and factual knowledge necessary to deal critically with the problems and materials in United States history. The program prepares students for intermediate and advanced college courses by making demands upon them equivalent to those made by full year introductory college courses. It is VITAL that the student understand that the course is taught at the collegiate level. The three most significant factors for success in the course are reading, writing and ACTIVE participation in class seminars and activities. Students should learn to assess historical materials --their relevance to a given interpretative problem, their reliability, and their importance --and to weigh the evidence and interpretations presented in historical scholarship.

The major text in the course is The Enduring Vision. Other supplemental materials will be frequently used (including A People's History of the United States).

You should be reading the assigned chapters and following the directions you have been given for reading comprehension.

Make sure you are keeping up with the reading assignments in Enduring Vision and People's History.
